Expressive Writing

This is just a bit of my expressive writing. Some may describe this feeling as warm and fuzzy, though i’m not saying that their wrong but i’m not saying that thier right either. For me it’s there’s more than just that warm and fuzzy feeling. The feeling to me is beyond happy,

Sooner or later..

Oh NO! All children are going to be going back to school in TWENTY DAYS. Books, homework, the lot! Soon enough we are going to start back at school with a more new and exciting things ahead of us. Although some of us aren't excited to get back to school the rest of us just can't wait. Twenty days are gonna go by and when we're back at school I bet we're gonna be moaning and complaining saying "I wish it was the holidays". But it's part of life we've got to put up with our dislikes and our likes.

It's a New Year.

The year of 2013 has finally ended and we have now entered the year of 2014. In my own opinion that is unbelievable for us to reach the year of 2014. Many years have passed but I'm just amazed that we've made it this far, to the year 2014. Before time passes by we have many things to look forward to this year that we just don't know about. Many of them we be surprises and those surprises will come as a shock to many of us but as we wait we become more curious about what lays ahead. As we live in the present some of us think about our past and just can't wait for what the future brings us.

The Holidays have begun!

December 17th was the day when our school year for 2013 had ended. Holidays had begun and my holidays aren't that great so far, so far all I'm doing is chores, chores and more CHORES. Doesn't sound that great, aye? Luckily my hopes aren't yet dead my hopes are waiting for Christmas! I love Christmas because it's not only the birthday of Christ it's also a time when we come together with family and friends a spend the day together. Hopes are now waiting for Christmas, soon we're gonna see wrapping paper lying all over the place.

Narrative Writing - Squash.

The morning began with the sky being cloudy, grey and cold. It wasn't the best day to play squash even though the sport is played indoors. The speed in the game goes faster and faster as the players challenge each other. Squash is a sport that is very similar to tennis but instead you’re hitting the ball to the wall.

Balls flying, cheering happening around the room, smiling and sulking spread across the friends faces. “Are you ready?” Ivy says as she questions her opponent but their facial expression tells her that they just wanted to start the game. Ivy serves the ball then Chris goes to hit the ball but misses. Instead of the ball hitting his racket it goes flying past. Ivy jumps for joy as she defeats her opponent, but Chris throws his racket onto the ground and walks to the sideline.

Next opponent is John. “Ready to go for a walk of shame Ivy?” John asks with a confident expression. Ivy just keeps quiet and keeps her eyes focused on the ball as she waits for John to serve. John hits the ball into play. Ivy runs to the side and swings her racket with all her might and success goes her way as John fails to hit the ball back to Ivy. John was so frustrated that he caused an argument to break out as he picked himself up and said “NO! You got in my way, that’s why I couldn’t hit it.” Ivy sniggered and said “Well you might’ve just tripped up on your own shoelaces since you don’t know how to tie them!”
“I do know how to tie my shoelaces thank you very much! I would’ve won that match if you hadn’t stuck out your big legs and tripped me” replied John with anger. Moments later Ivy had apologized to John for what she had said before and made peace with him with a hug.

Last opponent, also the last match of the competition, was between the friends Andy and Ivy. Andy and Ivy had already begun their match. Their friends watched with silence as the ball went back and forth and back and forth. But when it came to an end Queen Ivy had lost to Andy and had to pay for his lunch.

Testing week

This week was testing week. I was prepared for most of the test, but I was very nervous.I am hoping I will reach my expected level. My goal was to make sure I am at national standard before the end of the year.

Holidays! - Evaluation Week 1

The first week of the school holidays had ended two days ago and gosh it flew by! Last week wasn't so bad because 3/7 days weren't boring. On one of those three days my cousins, Leotina, Dorian, myself and my uncle Petelo attended a Roots prize giving that was held at Unitec.

The first event of the day was held at the Unitec Marae. We were first welcomed into the Marae and then was given a quick tour around the Marae that was followed by the meanings of the carvings. Moments later we moved on to another part of Unitec. While we were driving over to the next area we went past the Auckland Blues Team and Tina (Leotina) is a big fan so while we were in the car she stuck her head out, then waved and screamed "Hi!" like a fool but she was really happy because one of team members waved back! After we had arrived we moved on to a short prize giving and lastly ended our day with lunch.

Later that week I thought we had an awesome time at the movies but not only because we went to the movies but also because it was our Nana Tinas' birthday! First of all myself, Leotina (Tina - younger), Emma and our Nana Tina went to the movies and watched our favorite band, One Direction! We watched the movie One Direction : This is us. In my opinion it was hilariously funny, sad at times  and awesome throughout the whole movie! After all had settled down our Nana was asking for our concert tickets!? I started laughing and saying that she had caught "One Direction Infection!". When we had arrived back home Tina, Emma and myself had bought Nana a present and had a lovely dinner with the family at home.

On the last day of the week my aunt and I stayed at home and just rested while the house was quiet without the boys around.

Cross Country

Children flooding into the tennis court, some were very eager to get started but others just didn’t want to be at school. Today our school, St Pius X, had CROSS COUNTRY! Cross Country was for everyone, as in everyone has to participate in the race but if you had a good enough excuse then it’s your lucky day! We had some collaborators from St. Mary’s College coming to help with the races (direct us to where we had to go). Moments later they began the races... First race was the students aged 12. Majority of my friends were in that load of racers. After the 12 year olds took off they continued on by age going down, 11, 10, 9 etc. Smiling big and getting ready to be released... “Get your mark, Get set... “ *BANG*

Jogging down the hill with two of my friends Zheiyna and Latanoa, starting to go a bit faster. Later we had gotten in the front of our heap we weren’t exactly in the front but we were in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Three quarters of the first lap and exhausted Zheiyna had gotten so exhausted she sat down for about 20 seconds to catch her breath back. Starting our second round and I was huffing and puffing so much that I had gotten dehydrated. Completed the hill and passing some of the St. Mary girls with one of my other friends, Maxine. Maxine and I had slowed down and walked for a quarter of the race.

Jogging up the hill with Maxine, smiling big as we take our last few steps... ACCOMPLISHED! FINALLY we had accomplished the course for St Pius X Catholic Schools’ Cross Country. Our accomplishment had led us to dehydration, sweating, puffing and huffing but it had also led Maxine into 2nd place for her age group and for myself 3rd place. For my other friends Genevieve had come 3rd after Maxine, Catherine had come first in front of Maxine, Zheiyna had come 5th not far behind myself, and Julia had come 4th after Genevieve. Minutes later the rest of our syndicate had completed the course and now it was time for us to kick back, relax and watch the juniors race.

Again we had heard the words “GET YOUR MARK GET SET... GO!” *BANG* the juniors had sped off to begin their course.Moments after the 5 year olds had left they began starting the 6 year olds then 7 year olds etc. After we had finished all the races we all got straight back to class, tidied up and gotten ready for road patrols.

And I have chubby cheeks too.

Descriptive Writing

The person I look up to is my Nana.  I look up to her because wherever she goes she’s not afraid to be herself. My Nana has short curly hair, her height is also short, she has Samoan Tattoos on her legs and is a bit curvy around the waist.

She is a very proud, joyful, thrilled and a hearty Samoan.  My Nana is a very loud person but when it comes to Religious Education she suddenly goes very quiet, on the other hand when it comes to singing “praise the Lord” that she doesn't overtake the choir.

My Nana is very helpful, she tries her best in everything she does especially cleaning. Strong, she is strong because she always stands up for what is right. Creative, she is creative in her own way by changing things into her own original way.

When my Nana smiles it’s either she’s happy, joking with someone or she’s getting cheeky to someone.  When she is sad she tries to keep herself busy and keeps quiet. Angry well she never get’s angry the closest she can get to angry is frustrated. Honest, my Nana is honest because she tells the truth.

My Nana is very original, loud and herself. That’s what I love about my Nana she is never embarrassed she is just herself and also “LOUD AND PROUD!”.  She never backs down, always stands up for herself, family and friends. My Nana will always be my Nana no matter what happens through life she will always be there.

Mother's Day

My Mum, first of all I will start off with saying my mum she is unpredictable. You know how people usually have the same routine well she has a new routine. For example for work, on Mondays she usually wakes up at 8:00am when she meant to be at work by 7:30am and it takes her about 15 minutes to get there and I think you can predict how the rest of the days go. But well that's my mum for work. Second of all I can not describe how grateful I am to be blessed with her. Third of all when I describe my mum  I see her as a smart lady, funny and lastly a clutz sometimes but I won’t blame her.
Lastly, I would like to tell you more but I have many stories about my mum but that will take to much of your life.

Triathlon

The sun was beaming down early in the morning while Room 7 and 6 dashed their way to the field.   (This term our school had Triathlons as our kiwi-sport but it was only for three days, for this term.)  The classes were dashing their way to the field because we were all very excited to try out triathlons.  If you try out triathlons then you might be doing swim, bike and run. Triathlon is an event with three continuous sports.  First we started off with running before we began we split up into two teams, team 1 and team 2 (awesome names I say sarcastically in my head.).  When we began we had to do this course, I can’t remember how many times but I think it was around 5 times and 10 star jumps in between.

Later our time was up we moved on to biking.  If you ask me it was like head, shoulders, knees and toes but with a helmet and star jumps mixed together.   After we finished our drill we had to run down to a tree turn back around and run back to the bike that we had chose.   Later that same week on Wednesday we had a slightly different routine, because on Monday and Tuesday we only did bike and run. Room 7 and 6 new routine began with slide (our way of swim), bike and run! But it was also a race.

When everybody had a turn we went back to our classes with exhaustion, sweat, soapiness it was not pretty to see a form 1 and 2 class in such a mess.

Athletics!

Today we had two events going on our the feast of St. Patrick's also containing the celebration of our Soul Friends Mass and Athletics. Later mass had finished and this is how I remember it starting, "Get your mark get set go!" screams Mr. Gaffney, and off goes a heap.  Today is a very nerve racking day for all four teams Keas, Tuis, Geckos and Kiwis!  The sun was up and was BURNING down on us but some us hardly realised because they were blazing across the field from one event to another.  The first event that I went to for photography lesson was the obstacle course.  The obstacle course involved running, jumping, weaving and skipping. Next I moved on to bean bag race, later shot put/softball throw, later on high jump and lastly track. I say that my favourite event for photos was high jump especially how I got action shots in the air.

Later I had finished my photography lesson we had lunch, well some of us did because others we and practised and practised their speed on the tracks.  When lunch was over we had races for each age group.  Overall when the day ended everyone had a good time especially the "MIGHTY GECKOS!" says Mr. Coakley with a big cheer in his voice, so yeah that was our Athletics for 2013! Be ready for next year!

You Are Special

Once upon a time in a small Village, humans weren’t the ones that lived there, the ones that lived there were Wemmicks. In Wemmick Village they have stars and dots. When some Wemmick shows off their talent a wemmick should give them at least more than one Star but if they don’t have any talent and they think they do but all they do is fail they get a Dot. A Dot means your not very good at doing things. There was a Wemmick who walked into town and her wood was nice and smooth, a group of Wemmicks tried to put a Star on her but it wouldn’t stick, they put a Dot on her but it wouldn’t stick either. Punchinello went and said to this fine Wemmick “Well hello there my name is Punchinello and do you know why nothing is sticking on you?” and she replied, "My name is Lucia and your answer is to go and see Eli”,

"Eli why Eli?

"Eli is our maker and he lives in a house on top of a hill".

The next day Puchinello went and visited Eli, he saw Eli,but then he got scared so he tried to quietly sneak out but then he heard his name so he turned with a very awkward face. Eli said “Well Hello Punchinello,I heard you have a question for me and I will tell you the answer now, come here everyday and you will see what happens”. So everyday Puchinello went and visited Eli and everyday soon Punchinello realised that the Stars and Dots didn’t mean anything so all the Dots fell off one by one.

Swimming

Tuesday the 2nd of August 2011 the actual year when our school finally gets a swimming pool. Today is a very special day for the kids at St Pius X because we actually get to go for a swim at school, most of us have been waiting for this moment! When it was 8:30am before school started Miss Oldfield told some of us that we are going swimming at 9:30am,9:30am it was so we all got separated into 2 groups. When we are in the pool we get into groups called Dolphins and Sharks and I was in Dolphins.First group-A went for a swim, when Group-B went (that was the group I am in.) to get changed we found some of group-a over there and they told us in a shivering way that “When you get out of the pool it is freezing!!” Later when we had finished helping each other girl with our swimming caps, we walked into the tent that was so warm for me that I did not want to walk out! When we all settled down in the pool a guy who was teaching us our lessons was named Mr.Burton, first he told us to put our hands on the side and arms straight out,so we did, then we played a little game called Captains coming. We had directions the right side of the pool was called port? and the left side was called Starboard?. Later on we had to swim back and forth, then we played another game called Salmon says.(Its mostly like Simon says.)After we had finished we said thank you to Mr. Burton and walked up the stairs and when we were walking down the other stairs we had to walk down backwards. When us girls had finished drying our hair and getting changed we we back to class......

My Experience in Australia!

It was pitch black outside I couldn’t see a thing, it was the first day of the holidays and it was 1:30am, very wrong way to start the holidays. My Mum pulled the blanket right off, she said that I was being fussy for about 10min, (because I did not want to wake up this early!) when I got to the airport there was like about nearly a thousand tears coming right at me! It was so sad to see all these people crying because they were saying goodbye to their love ones, I only had five tears coming down my face. Later on when we had arrived we had to grab our luggage and go through security, when we walked out we had all these people rushing at us and by us I mean my mum’s best friends sister and her son ,two teenagers, one elderly and two young ladies. After a week we all rushed to the cars and set off to Dream World! On our way there you can see a MASSIVE TOWER OF TERROR it is four times bigger than the fear fall here in New Zealand! The Tower of terror takes you up and you will never know when it is going to drop you. There is so many rides I can’t remember them all! Next day, we went to White Water World! There is a Massive ride that is like a big green Cyclone but it is called The Green Room, I went on it it is outrageous. A few days later we went to the city and the place we went to was called Kangaroo point, we went there in the night time, the views over there are gorgeous, I am positive that everyone would have loved it, after we took lots of photos we headed back home. When it was our last day over there we had a lovely barbecue, later when we all, (well most of us) had desert and in our desert we had yogurt, grapes, pineapple lumps, marshmallows and I think some milk. (I forgot the name of it so I just told you what was in it.) After we had our lovely desert we all went to bed. Well our two weeks was finished, it was a very sad departure because we had so much fun and the holidays came by so fast but we had a great time and a lot of fun. When we said our good byes and then left. When we arrived back here in Auckland everyone that was there was so pleased to see us so we went back home had a rest and spent the rest of our holidays with our family.

Kite Making!

On Monday 19th of June it was pouring with rain, minute after minute. It was so horrible.
At Morning Tea we had to stay inside so that we didn’t get sick. Later on in the afternoon Room 4, 5 and 6 ran to the hall. After we all settled down Allie and her Matariki group came in and introduced themselves to us, but just before we began Allie showed us some kites from nearly all over the world like Japan,Thailand and other ones that I can’t remember. Later we all got into our classes and made separate circles in our classes like Room 4, 5 and 6 all made circles with their class. First we had to listen up carefully or else we wouldn’t know what to do? When they finished off telling us our instructions we started to get straight to work, we didn’t have much time on our kites because Allie and her group had to go to the next school. We then packed up and flew our kites. We said our good-byes and went back to class. There was a little change when Mr M. was around because he let us stay and play 3 rounds of BULL-RUSH. Afterwards when we finished off our fun we went back to class.

Athletics

It was last Friday that the whole St Pius X school was having a fast, speedy, exciting day who loved running. Half of our school didn’t really like running and the other half loved running that was because they were so fast at running. During morning tea we had to get dressed. Later on we got sorted out into our teams, the teams names were Kiwis, {colour yellow} Geckos, {colour green} Tuis, {colour red} Keas, {colour blue} that was the team that I was in but that was great because my favourite colour was blue!
After we all got sorted out we went on to the school field and sat on the tarpaulin's they were all coloured BLUE! We all had to participate in a race or a game, first up 5 year old lets begin the RACE! First up the ladies Claudia was in the blue Keas! Mr Gaffney shouted get your make get set go! We all shouted {the Keas} go Claudia run! So she ran faster and faster then we all shouted {Keas} Wow! she won the race she was so pleased that she beat the other children! Gentlemen {5 year old boys} please step this way, so they all stepped to the starting line, Mr Gaffney repeated him self and shouted go! They all blasted off, racing to the finish line kiwis won be we still clapped for them even though we came last remember it’s not about winning it’s to see your speed, strength and having fun on a day like this.
Now lets move on to the next race Masters and Miss’s {6 year old’s } get ready to race! I forgot who won the 6 and 7 year old Masters and Miss’s race because I wasn’t paying attention properly. When they called the 8 year old children I got really nervous and worried because that was the closet age to 9 year old, because the races always start from 5 year olds up to 13. I don’t have that good of a memory with races and kind of ages. Mr Gaffney repeated himself and shouted GET, YOUR,MAKE GET SET,GO! They all started up and raced as fast as they could {even though it was their first race for some of them.}
